Rangers transfer news: Incoming winger will be ‘nightmare for defenders’ – Kris Boyd

Kris Boyd has backed incoming forward Jordan Jones to thrive as he prepares for his first season at Ibrox.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard sealed a pre-contract agreement with the former Kilmarnock forward back in January and he will link up with his new team-mates in preseason.

The Northern Ireland international scored 11 goals in 118 appearances for Killie since joining from Middlesbrough in 2016, and Boyd has backed him to cope both physically and mentally with joining Rangers.

“Jordan is a very good player,” Kris Boyd told The Sunday Post.
“He operates down the left-hand side but is right-footed, so when he cuts inside, the whole goal opens up, but he is equally as comfortable going down the outside.”

Gerrard is desperate to catch Celtic in the Scottish Premiership next season after failing to win a trophy in his first year at Ibrox.

The ex-Liverpool captain impressed fans despite their inconsistency, with supporters now expecting success next season.

Boyd has backed Jones to improve their chances of toppling Celtic, but has offered one area in which he needs to improve.

He added: “Being able to do both in such good measure makes him a nightmare for defenders.
